A Chornobyl engineer told how he stole fuel from the russian army to prevent a catastrophe

One of the Chornobyl engineers said that electricity was not supplied to the station for three days. These days, he tried his best to find fuel for the generator,  even stealing it from russian soldiers.

According to him, if the station had lost electricity, it could have led to a catastrophe.

"There could be an emission of the radioactive substances. The scale of this you can imagine. I was not scared for my life. I was afraid of what would have happened if I hadn't taken care of the plant. Not only that, but I was afraid that there would be a tragedy for humanity," he said.
